Keeping It Subtle, Minecraft Style
Before

When my daughter said she wanted me to create a Minecraft style bedroom I had visions of spending weeks painting tiny pixels on every wall. That is until she said she wanted it to be aqua and light pink! I knew then I could get away with keeping it a little simpler.
So I got to work to find inspiration and went to the best place I knew: Pinterest.
It was so difficult trying to find ideas for little girls as most of the ones people had shared were for boys rooms.
So we started with the colours she wanted first off, aqua on 2 walls and light pink on the other 2 and used that as our base.
During
As if by magic one day when I was on the train on my way home from work, I did a search online and BOOM! I found exactly the right curtains, bedding and even a matching sofa bed to complete the look.
Finishing Touches
The New carpet
My daughters favourite colour is purple, so when a freebie became available and a company was throwing out a carpet they had used once for a show, we jumped at the chance and it matched her lampshade almost exactly.
The old lampshade was round, and since in Minecraft nothing is round, that had to be replaced.
So, the new cube lampshade was bought.
An after 1 week of hard graft stripping wallpaper, wallpapering, caulking, painting, cleaning, decluttering, lifting and laying carpet, we were done and it’s fair to say she was very pleased with the result.
