It’s that time of year again where the sun doesn’t stay out for long, the mornings are dark and there’s signs that conkers are falling from the trees around our house. Yes it’s Autumn!
1. The leaves turning lots of golden colours, reds, yellows, browns I love them all! My street only has a pavement up one side, the other side (opposite from my house) has grass all the way from one end of the street to the other. The whole length of the grassy side is lined with trees, different kinds of trees (I’m not a gardener so I don’t know their names) so the leaves change colours at different times. Some are still thriving green while others have shed their leaves and others are yellowy-red, but I really like looking at them a lot. (Although my neighbours probably think I’m staring at them half the time.)
2. The slight chill in the air in the mornings. There’s something nice about being able to see your breath in the air in the morning. Perhaps I’m just a bit of a big kid: I can remember being younger and pretending I was smoking because I could see my breath. So glad that wasn’t a reality!
3. Being able to wear all my winter clothing. I’m not a huge fan of hot weather, I like wrapping up warm in 45 layers of clothing when I’m at work. (Which feels like an ice box at the best of times as the thermometer on my desk never goes above 20 degrees Celsius in my office!) Or wearing my fluffy robe when I’m at home (if I’m honest I wear this all year round). It doesn’t get so cold I can justify a hat, scarf and mittens, but that weather will be here soon (yey!)
