Family Time

With two parents out working it’s difficult to find time to try new things with your family and actually have any family time.  In between the kids clubs, work, school, sleep, chill time…it’s not easy getting an hour together as family.
  • making a book at home
  • having a family quiz
  • teaching the kids to skim stones on a pond
  • go to a community event (my local town does lots of free events e.g. summer fun days, Halloween Festival, Christmas Santa and reindeer parade, etc.)
  • try a new sport
  • bake something together (prep is the key for this one as my kids love making a mess for some reason when it comes to baking)
  • dig out your old CD’s or playlists and have a day where you all listen to them – we did this recently and our kids actually quite liked some of the songs and now have them on their iPods!
  • Plan a road trip to somewhere you’ve never been before (and actually go!)
  • Visit an attraction nearby that you’ve never been to before (probably one you’ve always meant to visit, e.g. museum, art gallery, etc.)
  • Learning something new together e.g. knitting, scrapbooking, how to play guitar, photo editing, etc.
  • do some hillwalking
  • It doesn’t have to be anything crafty, but normally that’s where my mind goes when I think of family time.  Those are just some of the ideas we’ve crossed off our bucket list as a family.
